Red for Heart Day........

I am going to be a part of red heart day,
on 26th February! I would like to ask for
your help on this one. What I would like
to do is raffle handcrafted art & crafts at
work and give the proceeds to the British
Heart Foundation......If you would like to
donate a small item, such as a brooch, earrings,
keychain, bookmark, artwork etc, I would be
delighted to receive them and have an arty
raffle basket. If you are interested please
email me and I will send my address to you.
Please could you send before the 26th Feb
if you would like to contribute. Thanks x

but at what he aspires to.'

I love my dolls.......

a selection of dolls I have created in the last year
and oh how I love my dolls! I am really a child at
heart like all my lovely friends in blogland.........

my quote to accompany my dolls is a Greek Proverb,

'The heart that loves is always young.'

heartbeats........

This week I am going to look at art from the heart
and write about quotes that inspire me.........
The above artcards I made when inspiration started
to return to me after years of doing family things
and not paying full attention to my art, so the first
quote this week will be.....
'All the knowledge I possess everyone can acquire,
but my heart is all my own.'

Happy Birthday Spring Chicken......

In Scotland we have a phrase 'you are no spring chicken!'
denoting the fact that the recipient of such a comment
was erring on the aged side......however I have a friend
who is celebrating his 65th birthday this week and is
as youthful as a newly laid egg!
I would like to wish him Happy Birthday!
To know him is to love him, his popularity is...
enormous, his generosity endless and his mischieviousness
legendary! A multi-linguist into the bargain, his
talents are much in demand. He will be retiring from
working life in the Summertime, but I am sure
another big chapter in his life is about to begin...
I am sure like me you have people in your life
whose heart is eternally preserved in childlike
wonder. Then there is the ten year old you meet
who happens to be going on forty five!

Age really only is a number, youth is a frame of
mind! All this talk of age is bringing me back to
flowers.............

and the wonderment when you plant a bulb
and beauty springs forth! I was given a present
of the blue hyacinth, how lucky was I?
The pink one just happened to be standing next
to it, but aren't they bonnie?
Another little sign that Spring is around the corner!
Have a lovely weekend everyone and enjoy!

Growing pains.....or gains?

the photograph above I took in the beautiful
gardens of Rozelle House, in Ayr.....and it inspired
me to add the words about growth. It's a gorgeous
plant that has found a host on the tree branch,
a supportive tree that accommodates a visitor.
My sons are going through a growth spurt just now
and I find myself looking at old pictures when they
were two little boys nearly two decades ago....was
it only yesterday because it seems so close when
I summon my memories, but the albums have
dates and dust on them and tell me it was longer
than I feel. My youngest found a lipstick in my bag
one afternoon and ran up and down the stairs
creating a continuous red line around the whole
of the top landing and back down again.....
it was a Paul Klee moment..'taking a line for
a walk.' Then my oldest son swallowed a screw
when he was three and a trip to the A&E of the
local hospital assured me it would pass....and it
did three days later, thankfully.
The things boys have to do to grow, a rite of
passage to the other side of gaining?
There is a young man in my life who is also very
special to me and my eldest daughter.
Tomorrow morning he is is going to grow and
his pain will be enormous as he is burying his
father at 52 years of age. He is only 24, and
last week his family had to make an almighty
decision as there was no hope of recovery.....
so tomorrow he will have to begin an almighty
journey without his father and my heart goes
out to him and his mother and elder brother.
Perhaps looking at the photograph made me
think of his predictament and his growth...
God Bless him and his family.
